I am going to second Consumer Cellular.
Like Cricket they use ATT (or Tmobile in some places, but you can specifically request an ATT sim), and any ATT phone will just work.
They also have what amounts to a payment plan for phones. Pay $100 up front for your IPhone (or whatever). Then an extra $25 each month until you've paid for the full price of the phone. At that point the $25 automatically drops off your bill (each bill tells you how many payments left to go as well, typically it's a two year thing).
Still no contracts, just pay the remaining balance at any time.Prices are very good. $50 will get you 1000 minutes, unlimited text and 3 gbs of data. $10 to add lines. In my case, since we only call family and calling family lines is free and are mostly on wifi, we opted for less minutes and less data. Four lines, $65 a month (our phones are paid off).
