Any thoughts on Ringplus? I have been using it for a few months. There is an initial setup fee (i think i paid around $30), the phone requirements are ridiculous, porting your number over was a pain (I don't remember the reason why I first ported over to google voice and back to ringplus), and they may cancel your plan after several months and force you to pay another setup fee.

The main benefit: FREE (supported by ads prior to making outgoing calls); includes sizeable amount of minutes and data, although you have to be on the lookout for specials to get the best deals. Their paid plans are also decent.

So if you do not make a lot of outgoing calls, and use a fair amount of data, this is a great choice.

Service has been okay, although there was a few times when I just couldn't make calls at all despite being in a good reception area; the call app would freeze although it may have been my phone.
